The article focuses on the main issues and perspectives of media space’s globalization addressed in the research works by James Lull. Modern theoretical studies on the influences of globalization on media functioning suggest two main perspectives, namely pessimistic and optimistic, the latter being favoured by James Lull. The author highlights the phenomenon of mass-media fragmentation which enables individual consumer to access any information. Another phenomenon considered is that of multiculturalism, based on producing the so called pop-culture as opposed to the main ideological and cultural trends. Special attention has been given to the main theoretical vectors of contemporary mass-media’s functioning suggested by James Lull, as well as psychological and cultural aspects of globalization processes, especially those of deep personal cultural and national self-affirmation.Downloads
