Taking the literary reportage „Riffles and Cherries” by Witold Szabłowski as an example, this paper explores the functioning of memory marked by the traumatic experience of Ukrainian-Polish conflict. The purpose of the study is to analyze the forms of memory which are reflected in the text of the reportage as a genre based on the testimonies of witnesses and postwitnesses. Using the methods of memory studies the author researches the specificity of human memory in sociohistorical context, in particular in terms of non-memory, false memory and forgetting categories. It is observed the actualization of the role of living witnesses as holders of memory in conditions of censorship and manipulation with facts. Analysis of literary reportage shows the ways of deconstruction of Ukrainians' image in Polish collective consciousness. It is also represents the author`s concept of appropriation of the history from non-memory and remembering as a will act, embodying the responsibility to the past and the present.Downloads
